There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

Cosmos, my kitty

Cosmos was a very special feline. He was the first friend of my cat Piper, who usually hates all other cats but warmed up to him instantly after they were introduced. I got Cosmos at a flea market and when I saw him I knew we would have a connection. I brought him home as a baby. I raised him to be a healthy, happy and fun-loving cat. He had his own personality. He would talk to you in a way that it was almost as if he understood at least half of what you were saying. He was a comfort to me in many hard times. I will miss him greatly. We buried him in a special place in our backyard. Next year I will plant the flower Cosmos over his grave so he will live on forever. I cannot express how saddened I am over losing him. He is now, of course, in a better place. In my heart I know I will see him again when I die. Sometimes the death of such of a small animal can lead to such hope of reconnecting with those you love on the other side whether they are human or animal. Over the next few days it will be very hard for me to slowly let go of him. I will never take down his photos or anything that reminds me of him. He will be in my heart forever. I won’t even stop saying I love him on a daily basis even if it seems silly to some people. I don’t care. I love you Cosmos. Forever and Ever.

I think they are beautiful. I’m using this photo as my desktop background for a while.
